Lollibop Festival

If you have never heard of the Lollibop Festival then you probably don’t have children. The festival has been taking place for the last four years and it is the biggest and brightest festival designed for kids that you will find anywhere in the UK. The events and activities have all been designed with the under 10’s in mind as well as their families. Lollibop is a great way to introduce your children to the world of festivals without the need for muddy camp outs and the hassle of travelling. The festival is filled with shows and live acts all focused on interactive play with the children in the audience. Lollibop is all about fun and play, the main ethos behind the event being about learning while having fun.

The Festival Programme

There are more than enough events and activities taking place throughout the day that your little ones are guaranteed to be fully occupied for the entire day. Aside from the live music there are theatre shows, artists performing as they walk about through the crowds, sporting events, literacy themed activities, interactive activities and a multitude of different workshops; your kids could even learn some circus skills or attend a cookery class. But there is more – your children will also be able to see and perhaps meet some of the biggest names in children’s entertainment that they will recognise from their favourite kids television shows, such as Cbeebies, Waybaloo and Horrible Histories. The festival ground will be split into different areas each jam packed full of different activities, with every child aged between 0-10 catered for. Pre-schoolers are not left out of the fun with special activities designed just for them such as a teddy bears picnic, baby ballet and yoga, and sign and sign classes.

Lollibop Festival Details

The festival takes place from Friday 16th August to Sunday 18th August. This year the fun has a new home in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Your ticket gives you access to all of the different events and activities that are taking place, including the face painting and workshops. However, should you wish to buy drinks or food from any of the stalls this is extra. All of the activities take place between 10am and 6pm and whatever the weather you are guaranteed to have a great time. More than 50% of the activities take place under the cover of marquees so your little ones can be shielded from the sun, or the summer rain; even the buggy parks are under cover!

It will be worth packing your kids an extra set of clothes on the day as there are a number of activities that could see them getting rather messy. All children must be supervised by a parent or carer at all times as there are no crèche facilities provided. Children under the age of twelve months have free entry and will also be able to join in the fun in a special area designed for the under 4’s. With Boob & Botty areas designed for baby changing, relaxed breastfeeding and the preparation of baby food, everything has been taken care of.
